Why do we need to predict wind farms power production?
The power produced by wind farms is intermittent. The output of a wind farm depends indeed on turbines state, the complexity of the site and weather conditions (wind direction, wind speed), which are extremely hard to predict. However, knowing the production of a wind farm in advance is necessary to efficiently integrate it into power grids and markets. This is why meteo*swift has developed a wind power forecast solution for producers, operators, traders and grid operators.
Artificial Intelligence is at the heart of our technology. Our system collects and leverages huge amount of data:
- Production and local data coming from wind farms’ SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) and weather stations
- Numerical weather prediction models from weather agencies
All of these data are then processed by meteo*swift’s machine learning algorithms which provide ultra-accurate wind power forecasts.
